A Peek at My New Studio

Visitors have always been welcome to my studio either by appointment or on published Open Studio Days.  Everyone loved the great she-shed I used to have in the back yard! It was beautifully nestled under towering trees and just behind the cottage garden that my husband had created. There was enough room for me to make quite a lot of mess, and to do the artist thing of hoarding, because we all know that we might just need ‘that’ for an artwork one day. Not to mention sketches, paintings, and assignments that were still hanging around from QCA Griffith Uni days! It was only a short stroll past the rose gardens but in later years it became harder for me getting uphill (plus carrying water for brushes), and in all extremes of weather.

My old studio at Avocado Lane in Maleny.

Last July we moved to the Bald Knob side of Maleny. My new studio is on the lower level of our home, so no more carrying pots, brushes, umbrella and water in the rain. There is a separate study for my digital work. It looks out to a rain forest, just divine, with happy birds singing. The painting area has fresh running water 🙂 Woohoo! Plus a kettle etc., air con, a covered veranda, and even a loo, LOL! I am feeling very blessed and loving it. Spending many, many hours here, creating, working, enjoying, daydreaming, and relaxing with the amazing views across the hinterland to the Sunshine Coast.

Two views of my new studio – a little pano-stretch to fit it all in 🙂

Living on the escarpment provides amazing views but the narrow road means no street parking nearby and we have limited parking on our property. It is a smaller work space, so while we have the COVID-19 factor I have decided not to have publicized open days for the public as safe spacing, and waiting, may be problematic. Private viewing is still Okay, COVID safe protocols are in place, just contact me to make a time. I look forward to seeing you. Cheers, Judi

    Hi Judi
Your new studio looks wonderful – and I imagine the view from the deck is more than excellent. Enjoy.
