Kakadu Memories
I’m so delighted to be a selected Exhibitor from entries across Australia for the ‘ROAM’ Exhibition at Aspire Gallery. An exhibition celebrating Australian themes and bush-land.
Creating these two small works evoked such lovely memories of my trip to Kakadu last year. I took the photos along a walk to see Aboriginal rock art. The landscape was such a contrast to the wetlands that we had visited a few hours earlier. Below are a few of my photos of the works in progress.
The Enchanted Outback
I always choose what is going to be important to the finished painting – such as what I was feeling, the atmosphere in a landscape, the composition, and representing the reality. However, it is just as important to omit anything that is going to be distracting from the final artwork. So, the dark tree trunk on the right had to go :), as did a few central trees that were blocking the viewer ‘walking’ into the scene.
Whispering Bushland
Both paintings are set in wooden floating frames – pictured at top of page.
Exhibition dates are: 10th August – 7th September 2024. Open to the public every Saturday, 10:30am to 4:30pm. Other times by appointment. 53 Kennedy Terrace, Paddington QLD 4064 – M: 0493 659 739.
