The Jacaranda with a View

This Old Jacaranda is one of several on a hill overlooking The Alan Border Field, at the Queensland Cricket ground in Albion. We used to live further up the hill and I used to love these trees, especially in Spring, when I’d pop down to the Albion Post Office every day. Sometimes I’d be wicked and pickup some Maccas just along the street there, then sit and eat in the park. exhibition will run from 22 August – 26 September.
The three early titles of my Picture Books for people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias were originally with Ausmed Publications, and they invited me to speak, about my aged care activities, at their National Aged Care Nursing 2009 Convention, held at the convention centre at this ground.
I confess, I’m not a cricket fan. My four boys (men now – and they still love it) played when they were young – ahhh! the whites in the 1980’s were so hard to wash and iron. The grassy-green stains were a constant trial for the mums. I’m sure todays’ fabrics are much easier to clean.
This painting is created from one of my many photos taken at the park. So many lovely memories for me. I hope you can visit the exhibition at Aspire Gallery. The artworks are selected from a national callout so there is always a wonderful and varied presentation from artists across Australia.
