Kimberley Coast Memories
In June Greg (my hubby) and I took a cruise along the Kimberley Coast, from Broome to Darwin over ten days. There were expeditions on each day via zodiacs, some were wet landings, most were riding and viewing. It was such a fantastic experience.
The centre photo above is included here to show that we did scrub-up when we weren’t out on expeditions 🙂 … scroll for images below LOL!! Sometimes I sat on our deck and painted the view or worked from the previous days photos as I wouldn’t have been able to trek on a few of the land expeditions. A few times we dined-in on our deck.
The Sunrises and sunsets along the Kimberley were amazing. I’m so glad I bought a small light camera instead of taking my old faithful Canon EOS 760D. For several years now holding the 760D was getting difficult for me. I can honestly say the Canon R50 was perfect for me and I’ll continue using it for all my shoots. The quality of the finished photos is great.
We were especially in awe of the geology and its history. Incredible escarpments and cliffs. The ochres and reds against the dark blue and turquoise waters excited this artist 🙂 Our guides were so experienced in their different fields and shared their knowledge enthusiastically with us.
I’ve travelled to many coastal areas around Australia and can’t believe I went all the l way to the Kimberley Coast to see my first Osprey. I was so excited. Incredible powerful birds. Amazing nest builders.

I’ve still a lot of photographs to add to my Getty/iStock portfolio yet, and I have a few painting ideas underway. I’m so looking forward to sharing my experiences of the incredible Kimberley Coastline with you through my art. Currently, I’m sourcing new stretched canvases, and I’ve also a 3 x 4 foot stretched canvas being professionally made – I keep thinking about that painting-to-be 🙂
