On My Easel
Currently on my easel are a couple paintings inspired by the magnificent landscapes of Kakadu and Arnhem Land. Both paintings are acrylic on stretched canvases.
The first is a sunset and smoke from the back burning intensified the colours. Although the actual landscape had dense foliage I chose to focus on the simplicity of a silhouette concept as it was the smoke colours that stole my heart. This was Kakadu, and phone snaps from the moving bus.
This next work is taken from a photo during our boat-tour gliding down the East Aligator River. The view is towards Arnhem Land. The afternoon sun and dappled light were breathtaking. So more wondrous than a phone snap captured but imprinted in my mind.
